maps

miso and ghostpatrol maps, found via the wonderful 16house. any non-melburnians: please have a look at their work. amazing. how lucky are we to see this on the streets everyday??

love these maps.

i work in the city, and gertrude street is my favourite shopping / eating strip in melbourne, but there are still many places on here that i haven’t been to.

maybe a summer resolution? we’ll see…

i bought the second issue of underscore magazine yesterday

and although i haven’t read much of it yet i’m already kicking myself for not buying issue one. maybe i’ll see if magnation can get it in for me…

beautiful pictures, thoughtful articles, inspiring interviews and the best thing (besides the different coloured papers it is printed on)? a recommended soundtrack to accompany each article for our reading pleasure… i’m off to download some new songs now.

#5 from zakkaya
#6 from fujimart
#7 bridget bodenham
#8 from five boroughs

today i took some photos of some ceramic pieces that i own.

i have quite a few pieces scattered around the house – too many to take photos of today.

they are nice things to collect; none of these pieces were expensive and several are from melbourne makers. and of course, all are beautiful to use and hold.

when my photography skills improve i will take some more pictures. until then, please enjoy this ‘white + handmade’ collection.

edit: i just looked at this post on my boyfriend’s computer – man, these pictures are dark. i realise that i always have the brightness levels turned up max on my computer, but still… will definitely have to improve my photography skills..!

lists

another visual list. i’m a little tired, but hopefully these images will inspire me, as well as you.

enjoy.

five images in blue and white and grey

it is images like these that fuel my desire to work in a museum.

people are too quick to throw things away these days, to replace the old and worn with shiny and new.

or, as is more common, the cheap and plastic.

sad.

pottery

all pieces by nathalie frédérique lahdenmäki, who seems amazing. a masters degree, fluent in french, finnish and english, and ‘fair’ at swedish? wow.

i’ve mentioned before that there aren’t many things that i like more than ceramics (as silly as that sounds).

i have a small collection myself – i’ll post about them soon – but i would love to add any of these to it.

there is just something about them; so practical and useful, but still beautiful and each individual works of art.

and so tactile; these pieces are made to be loved and used.
