gems

my pinterest account has been hacked. or something.

because i now – inexplicably – have 46,000 47,000 followers, and more than 90,000 followers of some individual boards.

um, ???

has this happened to anyone else? seriously, those numbers are increasing by about 1,000 a day.

odd.

the downside is that people are anonymously web-bullying me.

well, perhaps that’s an exaggeration, but people – strangers! – are writing comments like ‘that shit’, and ‘wath a wirdo’ (sic). am i shit? am i a wirdo? and what IS a wirdo?? (or should that be ‘wath’…).

okay, so people are by and large friendly and positive, but still. i feel like i should be speaking at the leveson inquiry

hysterical over-reactions aside, i still love pinterest. especially when it alerts me to super gems like these nektar de stagni pieces of awesomeness pictured above…

  1. That’s insane! Sometimes I find boards with that many followers and I always think “I didn’t even know that many people used pinterest!” Maybe one of your boards was featured in one of those weekly pinterest email things? Even if that was the case – it seems crazy that 40,000 people would suddenly follow a board due to that!

How miserable that people are being jerks though. I recently noticed that some woman was pinning some of the things I love onto a board called “that is UGG-ly” or something of the kind. I can’t help thinking that people with boards devoted to things they DON’T like misunderstand what pinterest is supposed to be for.

  2. i finally got back on pinterest yesterday and saw you had 46000 followers and thought ‘wow, that’s impressive!’
i’ve definitely found myself following people that i didn’t agree to, almost like pinterest decided that since i knew them through facebook, i would automatically want to follow them there too, but not to this exent!!

sorry to hear about the negative comments though. not really sure why people take the time to do that.

    • that facebook thing is weird…

i rarely use facebook, and haven’t linked my pinterest account to it, so i haven’t had that problem.

i have, however, had my name added to group boards; like for some girl in america’s wedding, or something.

      WIRD.

  3. I noticed that earlier this week. I was wondering how that was possible! Sarah – how could they make you follow people you don’t want to? Maybe you have another personality who gets up in the middle of the night, gets into your Pinterest and follows random people.

Haha….oh Anne Louise, you and Mallory have me laughing to myself like a crazy person here at my desk. That’ll teach me for checking my blogs at work. It’s like people are holding you personally responsible for every image you pin on there. This one on the paper doll is fantastic – “I wish I could get this off my wall…it is really creepy!!”. Hehehehe. But seriously, Anne Louise, only a wirdo would pin that. That shit.

I just noticed that hugging chimpanzee and child. Oh hehehe. That one is crying out for a comment. And 43 repins in 5 hours!

  4. Well I became a follower of yours this week so make it 46,999 people that could be shifty followers! Ps your pinterest is ridiculously addictive!

  5. My mom just signed up for Pinterest and Pinterest automatically had her follow about 12 stranger’s boards. It looked like they were people who already had a lot of followers. So maybe Pinterest had people follow your board automatically when they signed up?
